Both bring refreshing water. Here at Ubertronix, we’re starting something completely brand new, we’re not just about making great lightning triggers or selling camera accessories, we’re also about helping others. Every so often something comes along that moves you, something that inspires you to do more, something that’s more than just about you and me, something much bigger. We weren’t just put on this earth by chance. Let me share a story of something worthwhile and ask you to come on board with us.
This is a story of a 9 year old girl that goes to school with one of my children.
This young lady has a great big heart, a heart that wants to make a difference, a heart to help other people; specifically, other children in Uganda.
Natasha is a typical 9 year old girl who was one day watching a video on YouTube about the lack of good schools for some children in Uganda, Africa. She was so moved by it that she felt compelled to help; she wanted to build a school for them! Her mom did what every mom would do and encouraged her but told her that it would be a long term commitment and to stick with it and not give up. She replied, “Mom, our God is a big God and He can do anything.” They looked into the cost of building a school in Uganda – it’s somewhere in the neighborhood of $25,000, a lot of money for a then 8 year old! She started thinking about how to come up with this kind of money and came up with the idea to put on a Read-a-thon at her local school. Her friends joined in and together, got many people excited about the new venture! Within five months they had raised enough money for the new school! Two months later, Natasha and her mom went to Uganda and were there for the school’s dedication! Even now, this young lady continues to demonstrate her faith; she recently announced a new goal to raise $60,000 in 2012 to start a children’s village in Uganda!
Natasha and her younger sister have been invited to speak at churches, schools, social and service organizations, radio talk shows, universities. They even spoke at a national school convention requesting to make the Read-a-thon a national event this year! Many schools are hearing the message and stepping up to make a difference!
At Ubertronix, we wanted to join in and help. I met with the organization behind the school building effort, Uganda Tree of Life Ministries. I met with one of the board members and spoke with them in great detail. He shared with me some of their needs, many of which we take for granted; things like running water, waste-water systems, and sustainable farming.
After meeting with them and hearing their cause I’m very excited to say that Ubertronix is going to stand beside them and sponsor some of their efforts! What that means, we we’re going to donate 50 percent of the Strike Finder App sales between now and September 1, 2012; that’s nearly $1 for every app sold! Additionally, we’re going to donate 5% of our gross sales through the summer as well! Now you may be asking, how can I help? Well, I’m glad you asked, we’re providing a Paypal link where you can donate too. It is a non-profit organization so the contributions are tax-deductible (talk with your tax advisor). Whether it’s $5 or $10, every little bit helps.
Thank-you for your considering a donation. This is a worthy organization and every dollar donated goes to the help people of Iganga Uganda live and lead better lives.
