Here are some common questions about Strike Finder.

Getting
Started

What camera settings should I use?

To capture lightning photos, the following settings are recommended:

  • Night use: 3″ – 1/8″, f/8 adjust as needed
  • Day use: 1/4″ – 1/30″, f/8 or higher – adjust as needed
  • ISO 200-400

Don’t forget to take the foreground into consideration.

Where do I plug in the cables?

Strike Finder Touch and Strike Finder Elite include:

  • Motion Sensor (small black box with the globe). Connect the motion sensor to the Touch or Elite with the labeled input port on the left side of the unit.
  • Sound Sensor (small black box with the hole). Connect the motion sensor to the Touch or Elite with the labeled input port on the left side of the unit.
  • Cable to connect to your camera.

Strike Finder Pro II includes:

  • Sound Sensor (box with the hole). Connect the motion sensor to the Touch or Elite with the labeled input port on the left side of the unit.
  • Cable to connect to your camera.

Strike Finder Pro includes:

  • Cable to connect to your camera.

Strike Finder:

  • Cable to connect to your camera.
How long will the battery last?

The 9 volt batteries will last over 24 hours. However, if you experience any issues a low battery could be the culprit.

The Strike Finder Touch uses 4 AAA batteries and will perform approximately 3 hours with the screen on and 5 hours with the screen in power saver mode. To turn on the Power Saver feature, simply tap the Power Save button. To turn the screen back on, tap the screen in the same location as the Power Save button.

You can also purchase a wall adapter, If your shoot will allow you to use wall power.

Help! My Strike Finder is not working.
1. Camera must be in manual focus before the trigger will activate your camera.
2. Please ensure the cable is plugged in flush to your Strike Finder.
3. Try fresh batteries, stale batteries could be the culprit.

Which cable do I need?
Strike Finder products work with most cameras that have an external shutter release port. Cables are based on camera model.  Simply visit our store and select your camera make and model.
